Double W Racing was in action last weekend venturing
to the LTM Off Road park in Casey, IL for the 2009
MAORA season opening event. Both Timmy and Vern
had their respective Phazers ready for battle with a tough
field of competitors including 4 TORC regulars.
At the pre-race drawing Timmy drew the 4th pill, Vern
drew the 8th.

Heat 1

At the launch both Double W cars wound up mid pack
as the field sorted out. The Lucas Oil entry had grabbed
the lead with Timmy and Vern battling for the 4th position.
On lap 2 the Double W guys swapped positions, the action
was non stop as the laps unfolded. The Lucas Oil entry had
opened up a cushion and held it to the checkers, Vern and
Timmy lost positions on lap 9 to the Fitz hot rod and wound up
5th and 6th.

Heat 2

An inverted start had both Phazers in the front row, Vern managed
to come out of turn 1 in 3rd position, Timmy was close behind in
4th. Again the Lucas car got away and was holding the lead, Vern
was holding his own in 3rd when an ignition anomoly struck causing
him to fade to a 6th place finish. Timmy battled hard and maintained
the 4th spot at the finish.

Heat 3

This heat was action packed as well, Alvin was subbing for Timmy and
Vern was out to capture a podium finish. A turn 1 melee had all the cars
scattered and dicing for postion. Vern temporarily held down the 3rd spot
while Alvin was back in 7th. There was a tough battle at the front of the
pack with Fitz, Lucas and the Rolling Thunder cars all mixing it up. Vern
moved up to the 3rd spot on lap 4, Alvin had made the move to 5th while
adjusting to the freshly watered course.
As the laps wound down Vern held on to a strong challenge for the 3rd spot
Alvin fought hard to capture the 5th place.

Overall Vern 4th Timmy 5th
