Team Double W dominates podium @ Casey

Team Double W was in action for the first time in 2007 on May 19th-20th at the Lincoln Trail Motorsports Park in Casey, IL.
The weather was picture perfect all weekend, the track conditions were dry and dusty which added to the obstacles the team would
have to overcome.

HEAT 1
A blind draw determined starting position Vern was outside the front row Timmy was relegated to the middle 2nd row. At the start Vern grabbed the holeshot using the high banked turn 1 to his advantage and led the field for the first few laps being stalked by the Lucas Oil entry. Timmy meanwhile wasted no time had diced his way to 3rd several seconds back from the leaders. On lap 5 the Lucas Oil hot rod faded giving team Double W the strangle hold on the top 2 spots which they held to the checkers.

HEAT 2
The Lucas Oil car grabbed the holeshot with Vern and Timmy in tow the action at the front of the pack was non stop all heat complete with 3
lead changes 2 in the confines of turn 1. After the dust had settled the Lucas Oil entry had come out on top Vern was 2nd and Timmy hung on for 3rd.

HEAT 3
With the overall victory on the line both Team Double W cars were ready for this heat. Lucas Oil went to pace the field followed by Vern and
Timmy who worked his way through the pack after another back row start. At the 5 lap mark Vern was in the 2nd position stalking
the leader waiting to make a move, Timmy was a distant 3rd after dicing with Proformance Engineering machine and was looking to make up some time. On lap 7 the Lucas car got the seperation he needed after Vern spun in turn 1 and combined with lap traffic claimed the win. Vern recovered to grab 2nd Timmy cruised to a 3rd place finish lapping some backmarkers in the process.

Sunday 120K Enduro

With Vern as the lone entry, and the track with VERY dusty conditions this was going to be a test of man/machine.
At the start Vern went to the point running at the heels of the high powered Class 1 cars set a quick pace that lasted
through the first 1/3 of the race. On lap 13 after climbing to the 4th overall position the Phazer began to experience
brake problems, after pitting for fuel and a vehicle examination Walter reentered the fight a lap down. The pits were
busy with refueling a drivers changes and action at the front of the field was non-stop. Walter set a consistant pace for
the next 6 laps as the team kept marching to the finish. On lap 19 Vern again grabbed the helm running dust free at a
blistering pace trying to regain lost ground but it was not to be after Phazer suffered complete brake failure on lap 22
causing a DNF but the team had run enough laps to nail down a 2nd place in class for the day.
