Double W Racing teamed up with Casper Racing to attend the
TORC Series Round 9 and 10 held in Crandon, Wisconsin Labor
day weekend. Dubbed as the "World Championship Off Road Races"
it has become famous nationwide as the best of the best attend this yearly
festival of speed.
Team members Walter, Timmy, Vern and Donnie were in attendance as they
participated in the downtown parade and racing Saturday and Sunday.
World Championship Saturday
Vern was at the helm of the trusty Phazer on Saturday with only 2 laps of practice
turned in the 8th quickest time out of the 15 cars that participated.
With a 17th place starting position in the back row it was going to be a tough
task to make it to the top 10 with some of the fastest racers in the country.
Vern got a clean start and crossed the line in 17th begin the 8 lap dash to the
checkers, in the early stages of the race there were several caution flags due to
crashes and spins, Vern was able to navigate past these while climbing to the
12th position at the 1/2 way mark. On lap 5 Vern made it to the 10th position
with 2 passes, and on lap 8 got to the 9th position after a competitor blew an
engine where he was able to finish.

With a 18th place starting position Ponder got a good start and was in the
fight in turn 1 as he hung on the heels of the points leaders crossing the line
in 12th position on lap 1 as the dicing began. Ponder held his position as he
